Service Week July 31, 2013 at 5:37 am

From early times, colours have been considered enchanted symbols, and reflect the personalities and lives of those who use them. But today, many people use them more for aesthetic purposes, rather than representing their qualities.

Creating harmonious interior design, on the other hand, requires you to dig deeper about the colours and their meanings. Your curtains, for one, are important elements of your home and their colour has to meet some criteria. It has to match your home’s overall interior design and also express your own personality.

Before buying curtains for your Perth home, here are a few tips that will help you understand how different hues can affect your home’s overall atmosphere.

Red curtains have a powerful presence, making it fabulous for dining rooms or living rooms. Because of its warm tone, it will give your room a special glow, making an assertive statement of style. Forget lightings, decorations, and artificial illumination, red curtains will alter your rooms naturally.

White remains white, it won’t fade and adapts to any interior design. White curtains also light up your room, making it elegant and bright.

Often used in bedrooms and study rooms, blue curtains have the opposite effect of red. It calms the environment, calls tranquillity, and suppresses appetite. But don’t overdo it. Blue can come off as cold or depressing when scattered throughout the interiors.

Green window curtains don’t stress the eyes. It relaxes your spirit, enhances your mood, and calms your behaviour. Darker shades of green depict wealth, prestige, and money. This is ideal for home offices, as green curtains can increase productivity.

Choosing the appropriate curtains is only the first step to creating a nice interior ambiance. Don’t forget that there are different kinds of curtains and custom shutters to choose from. Visit your local stores or check out online providers to find affordable yet quality curtains for the home.

Face-to-Face with Bankruptcy

Service Week July 30, 2013 at 6:34 am

When it comes to debts, you can run, but you can’t hide from them. Eventually, your creditors will catch up on you and demand payment for what you owe them. Fortunately, you don’t need to tie up your running shoes for a run. A bankruptcy attorney in Cincinnati offers a better option to avoiding your debts – filing for bankruptcy.

When you’re six feet under debt, filing for bankruptcy can help you get your finances back on track.

Get a Fresh Start

Filing for bankruptcy is like restarting your life on a clean slate. You can stop worrying about the non-stop phone calls from creditors. You don’t need to be anxious about receiving harassing letters demanding for debt payments. This alternative, however, isn’t for everyone. Before you can benefit from this, you need to take the bankruptcy mean test. This test compares your financial condition to similar households in your state. A Cincinnati bankruptcy attorney can help evaluate your current situation to find out the best solution for your debt problem.

Use Your Assets to Pay off Debts

Chapter Seven of the bankruptcy law allows you to pay off debts using your assets. Bankruptcy trustees gather your nonexempt properties, sell them and use the proceeds to pay your creditors. You may save some of your properties by exempting them for liquidation. For instance, you may exempt your car for liquidation, as you need it to get around the city.

Repay Your Debts through an Easy Wage Earner’s Plan

This bankruptcy option is for those who are earning regular income. According to US courts, you can offer a repayment plan to your creditors. This allows you to pay your creditors a small amount of your debt regularly until you’ve paid them all off. Wage Earner’s Plan can last for three to five years, depending on your financial capabilities.

Some people think only the jobless can file for bankruptcy. Laws vary from state to state. Consult bankruptcy lawyers in Cincinnati to find out if this is a good option for you. Don’t run away from your debts. When you do, you’re only increasing the distance between the problem and the solution.

Child Psychology 101: On Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Service Week July 29, 2013 at 8:22 am

All children have worries, but those with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can’t stop worrying about even the smallest things. OCD is a type of anxiety disorder that compels the child to behave in certain ways to assure themselves that something bad won’t happen. According to research, an estimated 2% of the population has OCD. This means that about 130,000 young people suffer from this disorder.

Dealing with OCD can be stressful. The disorder may affect schoolwork, family routines, and even personal relationships. Children with OCD are often too young to understand what they’re going through, which, in turn, makes it hard for them to explain their thoughts and actions.

So, how can you help a child with OCD? Here are some tips:

Be informed and involved

Children with OCD often feel upset due to obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours. They often keep the anxiety a secret from family members in fear of distressing others. Listen to your child’s worries to find out what causes the anxiety. If your child has trouble opening up to the family, professional therapists offering counselling in Marylebone can be a good option.

Small praises can go a long way

As a parent, you have to avoid personal criticisms that might only contribute to the child’s worries. Be supportive and praise small improvements. Comfort your child, as simple actions can help make OCD symptoms less impairing.

Get professional help

Therapists have different approaches when it comes to OCD in children. Some may recommend Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to assess the problem and teach the child how to be in control. Some therapists may have the child face fears to relieve anxiety. In some cases, therapists may provide medication like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) to reduce anxiety and stress levels. Be sure to have a thorough consultation with the therapist before getting therapy in Marylebone.

Final Thoughts

Always keep in mind that OCD is never the child’s fault. This anxiety disorder is a problem that you and your child have to work on together. Spend more time with your child to establish a good bond.

The Great Asset Management Debate: Manual vs. Digital

Finance Week July 24, 2013 at 6:37 am

It’s a given that enterprise asset management (EAM) is very important for a company to function efficiently. By managing the tangible and intangible aspects of your company’s resources, you get to maximise value throughout all departments and locations. Through EAM, an organisation lessens costs, improves performance, and improves the company’s returns. In some cases, it may even prolong the lifespan of certain assets.

There are two common ways of handling asset management in Melbourne, namely through manual and digital means. The former mainly relies on human effort, while the latter concentrates more on computerised techniques. Which one, then, should your company invest in?

Size Does Matter

Your company’s size plays an integral role in what type of EAM you should use. Normally, smaller companies can handle all resources purely manually just fine. Medium to large enterprises, however, often need automation or at least some sort of computerised way to keep track of assets.
Although manual labour can use up a lot of time, the good thing about doing things the old fashioned way is that it allows a “slowly but surely” approach. Though it’s subject to human error, you can hold randomised or scheduled audits to check for accuracy.

On the other hand, digital EAM is faster, but it’s only as good as the data entered. When the information in the database is correct, so are the alerts and results that come with it. Inversely, when the data is erroneous, then your company may risk losing money because of misplaced assets and missed certification renewal deadlines, among other things.

Let’s Get Physical (and Non-Physical)

EAM is important for a company that wants to minimise costs, maximise profit, and become ready for any downtime in case of problems with certain assets. In the event that assets go missing or don’t work as they should, a company needs quick response time to fix or at least temporarily resolve the issue. Otherwise, many aspects of the daily operations may get affected. In some cases, it may even affect more than just the company and its employees, but also the consumers as well.

As such, a company has to take care of its physical and non-physical assets. Instead of waiting for these things to fail and replace them as needed, it really helps to plan ahead and keep things as organised as possible. Consider monitoring everything, from physical assets, infrastructure, IT and digital items, paperwork, and even human resources. Having a backup plan in case any of these fail to do what they’re supposed to will greatly help your organisation handle unwanted and unexpected emergencies.

Choosing the way to manage assets depends mostly on how large the organisation is and how many resources there are. Companies like Mainpac provide expertise in EAM to drive down your company’s costs in managing these resources. Visit their website for a free consultation to find out what solution fits your organisation best.

When Every Day is International Suit Up Day

Service Week July 24, 2013 at 4:55 am

People tend to judge you by what you’re wearing, and if you really care about what they think, then you should care about the wholesale men’s suits that you wear. It doesn’t get simpler than that.

A Gentleman’s Suit

Set yourself apart from the common-suited masses by deviating from the two-button jacket and going for a peak lapel. Its twin peaks point to your shoulders and defines your torso. Want to look dressy, but stay effortless? There’s an inherent elegance to a three-piece suit, but be careful about going over the top by remaining sober in color or pattern.

The color of the best Los Angeles men’s suits in order of flexibility: Navy, charcoal, and medium gray. Just stick with sober, solid cloth, but if you insist on wearing a patterns and prints, keep it subtle. Plaids or stripes often add heft to your frame.

What Lies Beneath

Things do look better with age, save for your undershirts. Those should always be new. Messing up on this part can be saved by a vest, though. The latter also conceals stained ties, but make sure it fits properly. Keep it buttoned at all times, with no trace of trouser waistband, belt, or shirt peeking underneath.

Polishing the Look

Your tie knot – always classic, never novelty – should conceal the collar band behind else it’s tied too loose. In the spirit of correct fitting, your watch should be worn snugly around your wrist. This enables it to remain secure, instead of getting in the way of work, among other things.

By the way, women notice shoes. Sure you have your stack of blacks and browns, but remember that you have every right to your own elite set of white suede bucks. Wear yours with confidence.

In the event that a bag is required to pack all necessary things, do not go for wheeled luggage. Real men don’t pull.

Wearing it Like a Boss

The best way to look effortless is to work it behind the scenes. Always go for a pulled-together look and meet every occasion’s standards. A major part of this is wearing well-fitting clothes. Anything poorly-tailored adds fifty pounds to your frame. Lean towards light, fine-woven cloths under a jacket with narrow armholes and a nipped waist. And if you are uncertain how much cologne is enough, you are not allowed to use cologne.

Expansion Leads To Bigger And Cheaper Heathrow Airport

Travel Weekly July 22, 2013 at 3:39 am

runwayThe proposal is submitted for airport expansion to the Davies Commission for constructing runway to the north, north-west or south-west of the existing airport.

The new runway can accommodate 260,000 more flights making a total of 480,000 by 2029 to which the residents, environmentalists and the London Mayor strictly opposed.

The interested parties are to submit their preferred options by Friday 19 July

Unlike others, Gatwick bosses offered that they would prefer “a constellation system of three London airports – keeping Heathrow open, whilst building an additional runway at Gatwick, and then perhaps in time a new runway at Stansted”.

The new runway will “deliver a full-length third runway while minimizing the impact on the local community”.

The problems related to planes flying low in London can be sorted out and the westerly runway will reduce the noise pollution. The third runway can even lessen the noise pollution upto 10- 20% .
